Common situations

A child is about to turn 18

Age is assessed by the authorities during the application. If a child is close to 18, start early and discuss timing with your lawyer – a few weeks can make the difference.

Children from a previous marriage

Minor children can be included; the consent of the other parent and custody documents are usually required. Prepare these early, as they often need to be notarised, apostilled and translated.

Divorced or widowed applicants

Provide the divorce decree or death certificate together with custody documents for minor children.

Adult children and parents

They are not included in your application. Each would need a separate qualifying investment of their own. Some families plan two investments at the same time so that the process runs in parallel.

Documents for each family member

Civil-status documents are the most common source of delay. Order them as soon as you decide to proceed.

Frequently asked questions

Does a larger family need a larger investment?

No. One USD 500,000 investment covers the investor, spouse and all children under 18.

Can my 19-year-old son be included?

No. Children aged 18 or over need their own qualifying investment.

Can I add a child born after we receive citizenship?

Yes. Children born to a Turkish citizen acquire Turkish citizenship by descent and are registered after birth.

Do all family members need to travel to Türkiye?

The main applicant and spouse visit Türkiye once for biometrics during the residence permit step; your lawyer will advise on the children.
